The Gap We Fill

Your eyes and boots on the ground between visits

Clinical visits are brief, and life happens in between. Referrals often end with a phone number. Our doulas help identify social needs and follow through on resource referrals, while delivering nonclinical emotional, informational, and physical support.

What Our Doulas Bring

Doula care for the whole picture

Our doulas are trained not only for birth, but for everything families are carrying into it.

Complete doula care

Prenatal preparation, continuous labor support, and postpartum care at home: comfort, education, feeding support, and help families feel ready.

Trained for the whole picture

Through Born Again Academy, our doulas are trained to support families facing health-related social needs. Every client receives a structured social-needs screening at the first visit. We help families connect to WIC, transportation, food, housing, and benefits, follow through until the connection is made, and escalate complex needs to your care team.

Part of your team

Clinical decisions stay with your providers. We help families prepare, follow through, and stay connected between visits.

No cost to your organization or to families

Doula care is covered by DC Medicaid, and Born Again Perinatal handles all billing. With the client’s consent, we let you know when we’ve connected with a family you referred.

Refer a Family
How Referral Works

Four simple steps

1. Refer

It takes about 2 minutes, with the client’s consent.

2. We reach out

We contact the family within 1 business day.

3. We match and meet

A doula is matched to the family, and the first visit includes a social-needs screening.

4. We keep you in the loop

With the client’s consent, we update you and escalate needs to your team.

Working With Your Team

Collaborative by design

Our doulas work as collaborative members of the care team. Clinical decisions always stay with your providers. We escalate concerns through the pathways you define, to your social workers and clinical staff. Our custom in-house software supports doula workflow and reporting, and can integrate with your systems so referrals, updates, and escalations reach the right person quickly.

Our Workforce

Trained through Born Again Academy

Our doulas complete Born Again Academy’s comprehensive 80-hour program in community-based perinatal support, healthcare navigation, and community-resource navigation.

Outcomes and Reporting

What we track for partners

Reporting is agreed with each partner and can include families contacted, screened, and connected to resources; appointment follow-through; and prenatal readiness, such as car seat, pediatrician, and safe-sleep setup before birth.
