You don’t have to have it all figured out.

We’re here for every family, including if you’re:

  • a first-time mom, a young mom, or doing this on your own
  • dealing with housing, money, food, or transportation worries
  • carrying stress, anxiety, sadness, or a hard past birth or loss
  • managing a health condition or a high-risk pregnancy
  • new to DC, or new to figuring out the system

Whatever you’re facing, your doula meets you where you are, without judgment.

Your support, step by step

Before, during, and after

While you’re pregnant

  • A doula who gets to know you and your family
  • Help preparing for your doctor visits and getting there
  • Help making your birth plan and learning what to expect
  • Help getting ready for baby: car seat, pediatrician, a safe place for baby to sleep, supplies
  • A plan for feeding and who to call for breastfeeding help

During labor and birth

  • Your doula by your side, helping you stay comfortable
  • Help understanding your options and talking with your care team
  • Support for your partner or support person too

After your baby comes home

  • Visits at home while you recover and learn your baby
  • Help with feeding, soothing, sleep, and safe sleep
  • Checking in on how you’re doing, not just baby
  • Help getting to your postpartum checkup and baby’s doctor visits

Partners and dads are welcome at every step.

Help with life stuff too

Your doula helps with more than birth. If you need help with WIC, rides to appointments, food, housing, utilities, baby supplies, or finding mental health support, your doula helps you get connected.

We don’t just hand you a phone number. We stick with you until you’re connected.

Free birth prep classes

Every client gets free virtual classes on childbirth, newborn care, breastfeeding, and safe sleep, so your doula visits can focus on you.

Dads and partners

Our Dad Doula support helps partners know what to expect and how to help, before and after the birth.

Working with your doctor or midwife

Part of your team

Your doula works alongside your doctor or midwife as part of your team. Your medical care stays with them. We help you prepare, follow through, and feel supported in between.

Questions

Short FAQ

What if I’m not sure I want a doula?

That’s okay. Sign up anyway and we’ll call to talk it through. There’s no commitment, and you can stop at any time.

What if I don’t have a partner?

Many of the families we support are doing this on their own. Your doula is there for you, and you decide who else is involved.

What if I’m already far along, or already had my baby?

You can still get a doula. Postpartum support continues until 6 months after birth with DC Medicaid, so there’s still a lot we can do together.

Do I have to pay anything?

No. With DC Medicaid, doula care is covered. You won’t get a bill from us.
